RIGBY

Dutch band Rigby celebrated it’s 5-year Anniversary in 2013 and released the anniversary album ‘Island On Mainland’.

The album mostly contains already existing songs from the past 5 years that are rearranged/re-recorded and a few new songs to symbolise the next chapter of the Rigbystory.

‘Island On Mainland’ was recorded on the island of Texel, the band has a strong connection with the island and it’s residents. At least once a year Rigby is playing a show on Texel but they visit as often as possible...just to relax for a few days, spend time with friends or visit the baby seal Rigby they adopted last Summer.

The beautiful nature on the island and the friendly people are always an inspiration to the band...the Texel beer ‘Skuumkoppe’ may also be responsible for some magic.

The past five years have been turbulent, fun and pretty succesfull: In 2009 – 2010 they were houseband of the popular Dutch daily tv-show De Wereld Draait Door, their song ‘One Song’ was 2009 themesong of radio 3FM’s Serious Request,

The song ‘Fire’ was used in the Grolsch tv-commercial in 2010- 2011 in which the band itself also appeared.

‘Breathe’ was used in the Nutella tv-commercial in 2009-2011.

‘Always You’ and ‘Earth Meets Water’ were used in Dutch movies ‘Alle Tijd’ en ‘Leve Boerenliefde’

Rigby supported Kaiser Chiefs and One Republic and played almost every festival (besides Pinkpop!) and club in the Netherlands. Outside of Holland they played for 40.000 people on Trafalgar Square in London, in the snow of Austria and the beaches of Curaçao and Bonaire.

In the Spring of 2013 ‘Earth Meets Water’ turned out to be Rigby’s biggest hit so far, for 22 weeks it was on the playlist of every Dutch radiostation. Hardstyle DJ Wildstylez released his remix of the song and this also became an airplayhit.

April 21st 2014 Armada released the Dash Berlin remix of this song worldwide. It’s the first single of the soon to be released Dash Berlin album.

Rigby frontman and songwriter Christon received a BUMA Award for ‘Earth Meets Water’ in 2014.
